Dimch

I welcome you to the webpage of Institute of Maternal and Child Health (IMCH) – a young vibrant Institute located in the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, Ituku-Ozalla campus; committed to policy-relevant health researches, quality postgraduate degree programmes, and impactful community services. On assumption of office in the 2017/18 academic session, I assembled a world-class team of committed academics, and together, we have structured the Institute, mapped processes/procedures, and developed sustainable targets and timelines. As part of the structuring, the Institute now has two functional units – Child Health, and Women Units, reflecting the associated academic departments of the university thus Paediatrics, and Obstetrics & Gynaecology respectively.
The Institute has continued to grow from strength to strength. For our postgraduate degree programmes, we offer quality, timely, and industry-relevant educational experiences with requisite global and tropical health bases. The Institute is strengthening its Research management office for competitive grants development and management in women/child health and related areas. We are very willing to collaborate with units and institutions involved in women and child health research.
Furthermore, the IMCH UNN has started giving back to the community through relevant community health services. For instance, as part of fieldwork in MSc Tropical Paediatrics, we offer specialist paediatrics services at designated primary health care centres Enugu, with the approval of Enugu State Health Ministry. We have also developed electronic media-based health education in women/child health. Within the limits of the available resources, we promise to continue the development of new and impactful community health improvement programmes targeted at identified health awareness/utilization gaps.
Finally, the IMCH contributes to the continuing professional development of relevant health professionals through quality and competence-based periodic certificate courses including Biostatistics and Research Methods, Basic practical skills in women health, Basic Courses in Neonatal Resuscitation, Responsible conduct of research.
Please, navigate through our webpage and acquaint yourself with our officers and programmes.  We look forward to fruitful interactions/collaborations with you.
